Street Cred combines the lived experiences of formerly incarcerated individuals with educator-informed practices to inspire youth to form healthy connections, make informed life choices, stay engaged in education, and achieve their personal goals.
Our vision for the world is that youth have a sense of belonging, self-respect and are able to make informed decisions through learning for life. We believe in Authentic Redemption and the lived experiences of formerly incarcerated people as valuable resources for young people to build hope, create caring relationships, and make healthy choices.

Our approach is student-centered and focused on the whole school community. We want to help you take a proactive role in knowing your students and understanding their lived experiences to best meet their needs. We focus on trauma-informed strategies to help educators better understand and relate to their students, as well as providing resources and strategies to help them stay engaged in school and reduce the risk of dropping out.
We offer workshops, live and virtual presentations, and ongoing support for your school and community. We offer real-world insight that can help you understand the issues that at-risk youth face and create meaningful connections with them. Our team knows how to make an impact on young lives and can provide you with the tools to do the same. We understand that many educators are already stretched thin. That’s why our team is here to help. Whether you need an in-depth workshop on gang life or just want a quick check-in to get your students back on track, we’re here to lend a hand. We have Street Cred and we’re here to help educators make a lasting impact on students’ lives.
"Dara, Thaisan, and Molly deliver the best teacher professional development I have had in my 20 plus years of teaching. Hearing from two men who lived through trauma and also caused trauma for others was eye opening. Their honesty, vulnerability, and dedication to change is something every teacher needs to hear so that we can shift the trajectory of our youth who are facing the same path."
"Dara and Thaisan shared their experiences in prison and how they chose to change their lives around and get their education. They both shared powerful and moving stories while being humble and cognizant of the mistakes they made in their lives."
"Hearing these men tell their stories has deeply affected my personal understanding of childhood trauma and incarceration. This School to Prison Pipeline course is crucial for all college students."
